Recently, Keith Pike Associates and Pilgrim Building completed a makeover of an existing two-level waterfront property in Hunters Hill.

The project involved extensive reorganisation of the floorplan to provide a natural spatial flow, from the entry, through the house, downstairs and out to the extensive alfresco facilities fronting the harbour.

Lookalike Travertine Porcelain Tiles for Elegant Indoor Living

Keith Pike chose to use Sareen Stone’s Lookalike Travertine Porcelain tiles and Statuario Marble Look Porcelain tiles throughout the kitchen, dining and living areas of the house.

Why choose Porcelain Tiles over Natural Stone?

The use of porcelain tiles has grown in popularity over the last year, partly for their strength, durability, and beauty.

Porcelain tiles are made from very dense clay blended with other natural materials, that are fired at a higher temperature than ceramic tiles.

Due to the highly uniform construction and nonporous properties of Porcelain tiles, they are popular for large spaces where a more sleek, polished or consistent look is desired.

Benefits of Using Porcelain Tiles over Natural Stone?

  1. Porcelain tiles are wear-resistant which means that they last longer and are suitable for high-traffic areas.
  2. Porcelain tiles are low maintenance and do not require any special sealant to keep water out. They dry quickly when they are wet, have a natural abrasion to stop them from being slippery and, though not entirely waterproof, are resistant enough to protect against water damage over time.
  3. Porcelain tiles have enhanced moisture resistance and are a popular choice in moist areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms and entryways.
  4. Porcelain tiles are highly durable due to the clay being highly refined and fired at a higher temperature, resulting in unparalleled strength.
  5. Porcelain tiles don’t require as much maintenance as other flooring. Their high moisture resistance makes them simple to clean along with minimal upkeep.
  6. Porcelain tiles are easy to clean, wipe and maintain over time, nor do they stain as easily as traditional tiles.
