As 2022 winds down, Sareen Stone thanks you for trusting us to curate and import premium natural stone for elevated indoor and outdoor Australian living.

What We Loved in 2022

We loved collaborating with our clients and supplying our premium natural stone for residential and commercial projects, standard and custom orders, far and wide; from Sydney metro, to regional  NSW, Victoria, South Australia, WA, QLD and the ACT.

Visiting Marmomac 2022

For the first time in three years, Sareen Stone Managing Director, Duncan attended Marmomac. Based in Verona Italy, Marmomac is the most important world fair dedicated to the entire stone production chain, from the quarry to the processed product, from technologies and machinery to tools.

This year, Duncan was able to see the latest trends in natural stone as well as check-in with our valued suppliers.

We’ll share more about the trends in natural stone as well as our new products in early 2023, but in the meantime enjoy the photos below.

2022 – Elevating Outdoor Living

2022 was the year when indoor-outdoor living moved beyond a pandemic trend and became a permanent usable area of home. Outdoor living areas blend seamlessly with the home by maintaining a consistent design theme between the two spaces, appearing to be one cohesive space.

The alfresco area in a retreat design style is an extension of the living space and serves as a tranquil weekend getaway destination, without leaving home.

Project Phoenix is the rebirth of a unique 1950s building into a beautiful contemporary family home befitting the spectacular site using our custom Crema Vialle Limestone and Himalayan Alfresco Sandstone. A focal point of the house is the Swiss-engineered descending window in the main living area, which allows for an uninterrupted transition between the external and internal space.

This flawless separation is reinforced by the presence of natural stone, which visually and technically brings together the indoor and outdoor space. TDDP Architects approached Sareen Stone with a clear design brief for natural stone to provide a continuous feel throughout the project.

Custom sized Crema Vialle Limestone was sourced for the inside and outside living spaces and custom Himalayan Sandstone panels were selected for a feature wall.

Cocooning in Vaucluse

Collaboration Partner: RNB Property Group, Maxine Scalabrino-Fine, Green Coast Landscapes

Products used: Clairvaux Wall Cladding, Luna Chiaro Limestone

Cocoon House is an inviting, versatile and tranquil residence, with original design features and abundant use of premium natural stone natural materials that allow the residents to enjoy an elevated indoor-outdoor lifestyle. This home is an example of architectural ingenuity overcoming site limitations to create an exquisite, tranquil Vaucluse residence with stunning harbour views.

The house in Vaucluse utilised beautiful soft textures, a combination of natural materials, statement furniture pieces, Sareen Stone’s Luna Chiaro Limestone and Clairvaux Wall Cladding to create a seamless design in on trend light-coloured aesthetics.

Sophisticated Beecroft

Collaboration Partners: Chateau Architects + Builders

Products Used: Manhattan Limestone Honed and Alfresco

The Beecroft project showcases a beautiful contemporary design with an industrial feel. The clients wanted to maximise the entertainment areas in their home and optimise both the indoor and outdoor spaces for hosting weekend barbecues, family gatherings in the alfresco area and the pool, and chilled dinners with friends.

The interior space features a spacious open plan living, which inevitably lends itself to entertaining. In an entertainers’ home, having a space where you can transition from kitchen to living to outdoor space with ease is essential.

Sareen Stone’s Manhattan Limestone is a feature flowing from the entry outside the front door, to the lower ground floor living area in a honed finish, to the alfresco finish in the outdoor entertaining.

Our New Natural Stone of 2022

With grey-coloured limestone on trend right now, we wanted to introduce a product to our range that would offer a similar “aged” texture and feel to Limestone, but in a large format, tumbled edge and be suitable for outdoor areas

Meet Tuscan Gris Limestone

While the beige and sandy tones are calming and warm, the greys suit contemporary and trendy designs and work well with landscaping.

After years of testing different finishes, talking to our suppliers, tweaking the process and thus changing the resulting colour and texture, we finally created the perfect product – Tuscan Gris Limestone.

Tuscan Gris has met our vision and we are excited to have recently added it to our range. Our newest new natural stone has warm light to mid-grey shades with beautiful natural variation, and a depth of colour.

Colour of the Year

Even though grey continued to be the popular colour in design, there was an increase in demand for cream-coloured stone which we expect to continue in 2023.

Cream is especially popular in design as it adds elegance in an understated way. Cream-coloured natural stone helps a space look clean and airy and acts as a base, from where you can start and pair it with as many colour and design combinations as you vision allows.

Crema Vialle Limestone is an elegant cream-coloured Limestone providing a soft undertone for indoor and outdoor living spaces.

Crema Marquina Limestone is an aesthetically pleasing option for use on walls and floors and offers a distinctly natural and luxurious look.

Cascade Cream Wall Cladding is a contemporary cream Limestone Wall Cladding that comes in set sizes and a textured finish, creating a truly modern look.
