Design Philosophy
The challenge was ambitious: draw inspiration from vastly different corners of the world while maintaining a cohesive design language. From the continuous water feature at the entrance to the four-metre curved stone island bench that anchors the kitchen, every element serves both function and narrative.
The result is a home that feels like a curated journey – each space tells its own story while remaining connected through refined materials and understated elegance.

Designer Interview
Personal Connection & Inspiration
“Wanderlust” is such a beautiful name for your project – can you share some of your client’s travel experiences that inspired your vision for this home?
Designing Wanderlust was an exercise in balance—a delicate, layered journey through global influences, unified under one roof. The client’s vision was ambitious: to draw inspiration from vastly different corners of the world, yet maintain a cohesive, considered palette that felt effortless and intentional.
At the threshold, a continuous water feature flows gently through the entrance—an homage to Moroccan architecture, where running water not only cools but calms, offering a moment of serenity as one steps inside. From there, the home unfolds like a curated travelogue: airy, sun-bleached spaces reminiscent of Santorini’s coastal charm contrast with the edgier, urban energy of the bar and pool room, where bold street art channels the creative pulse of Los Angeles.
What could have felt disjointed instead reads as a global journey—each space telling its own story yet tied together through a refined design language that embraces texture, tone, and narrative. Wanderlust is less a theme, more a state of mind.
Which destination had the biggest influence on the overall feel of the space?
Perhaps the most defining influence on the overall atmosphere of the home is the soothing, textural neutrality inspired by the Greek Islands. The palette—soft, sun-washed tones layered with natural materials—anchors the space in a sense of calm and understated elegance. It’s this effortless simplicity, reminiscent of Cycladic architecture and windswept coastlines, that gives the home its serene and grounded feel, allowing the more vibrant cultural moments to unfold.
How do you want the family to feel when they walk into this home?
First and foremost, we wanted to create a sense of calm and peace. That was the driving emotion behind everything. It was important that the space felt minimal—not in a cold or clinical way, but in the sense of being free from visual clutter. At the same time, it had to feel warm and lived in. I wanted people to walk in and immediately feel like they could breathe a little deeper – like the home was inviting them to slow down and relax.
Living in the Space
The four-metre curved stone island bench is described as the “heart of the home” – how does the family use this space day-to-day?
The island bench is the heart of the home. It’s where everything happens—meals, work, study, conversations, you name it. Almost every meal is shared here, and it’s become the natural gathering spot for the whole family. It’s more than just a kitchen feature—it’s a hub and central to daily life.
What’s your favourite room in the house and why?

That’s a difficult question to answer, as there are so many beautiful spaces to love. But if I had to choose, I’d say the Sitting Room. There’s something so special about gathering around a fireplace – relaxing with a glass of wine, catching up with friends, and soaking in the view. It’s that perfect blend of comfort and connection.
How has the design enhanced the family’s lifestyle?
It has transformed their lifestyle in many positive ways. Having a bathroom for each family member has made their day to day easier for this busy family, but more than that, the layout allows for a beautiful balance between connection and retreat. There are shared zones where the family comes together, but also separate wings where everyone can have their own space and privacy when they need it.
The design and accessibility of the outdoor areas have been a huge success. The connection between the pool, the infrared sauna and the sunken fire pit has given the family great pleasure and use all year round. The bar and pool room have become the go-to spot for gatherings, cocktails as well as double duty as a teenager’s retreat.
Natural Stone Experience
The Crema Vialle Limestone features in your indoor and outdoor areas. What do you love most about this stone?
We absolutely love the stone’s beautiful creamy colourway – it feels so natural and effortlessly elegant. It perfectly complements the overall sand-toned palette, grounding the entire space with a subtle warmth. Achieving a seamless indoor-outdoor flow was essential to the design narrative, and this stone played a huge role in bridging those spaces, helping to blur the lines between inside and out.
How does the natural stone make you feel when you’re using these spaces?
There’s truly nothing like the feel of natural stone underfoot. It brings an immediate sense of luxury without ever feeling cold or impersonal. Instead, it’s warm and inviting – a tactile experience that grounds the space and adds to the home’s overall comfort and richness.
How has the stone performed around the pool area and in the outdoor spaces?
Our clients are raving, and the stone has truly been put to the test. They hosted several large gatherings, including Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties and an engagement party and it’s performed exceptionally well. While some might be nervous about using such a light-colored stone outdoors, it’s proven to be incredibly durable and resilient.

Would you choose natural stone again for future projects? What would you tell other homeowners considering using stone?
We prefer to choose natural stone – it’s a timeless material that brings both beauty and durability to any space. We always recommend it to homeowners looking for something authentic and long-lasting. When selected and installed thoughtfully, natural stone elevates the design while standing up to the demands of everyday life.
Design Journey
What was the most exciting part of bringing the travel memories into the design?
One of the most inspiring aspects of the design journey was the collaboration with a renowned street artist to create the striking feature wall mural in the Bar Area. This process involved a series of in-depth design consultations prior to execution, ensuring the mural would seamlessly integrate with the overall interior concept. A key part of the creative direction was sourcing the right subject and the artist’s discovery of a captivating Nepalese model brought an authentic and powerful presence to the piece.
As the mural installation unfolded – a process that naturally required time and precision, design refinements were made in real-time. Notably, Danny’s innovative suggestion to incorporate 3D elements added an unexpected layer of texture and depth, elevating the mural from a visual statement to a fully immersive focal point within the space
If you had to describe the feeling of the home in three words, what would they be?
Tranquil. Organic. Harmonious.
