Our Alfresco finish means that our natural stone tiles and pavers are fabricated to retain a lightly textured finish, and provides the best slip rating for outdoors, whilst still retaining its smoothness underfoot. Some products have a square edge, and others have a tumbled edge.

According to Houzz, monochromatic shades or “Pairs of shades of the same colour are especially on trend” so expect to see more beige on beige as we move through 2018.

What is it about Scandinavian style that makes it still ever so popular? Over the last 10 years ‘Scandi’ style has found its place in the design style files more and more.

Nordic influences on this style are that it is often nature based, understated and organic materials like timber are important. When you think of Scandinavian design think clever, simple design ideas that work.

While IKEA is the undisputed home of Scandinavian design in Australia, this style is so prolific right now that ‘Scandi’ furniture and accessories can be found in a variety of retail stores from the likes of the Reject Shop right through to designer boutiques.

As opposed to contemporary, modern style encompasses design that has its focus squarely on function and innovation. Confusion can reign however, because modern style can incorporate contemporary elements.

While some modern elements could be considered contemporary, but importantly, in decades from now they will still belong to modernism.

Incorporating a Modern style typically means more classic with a pared back colour palette on walls together with simple flooring. While the flooring will incorporate a neutral colour palette it can be darker in tone.

Modern style can be defined to some extent as minimalist, championing uncluttered and sleek interiors with an open plan design. For some it is understated elegance that will stand the test of time.

Hampton Interior Design Style

Escape to the Hamptons, Long Island, New York where cool, sophisticated beach style is common place.

The Hamptons is all about classic muted colours: neutral tones reminiscent of colours of the beach and accents of blues both light and dark. The result is a casual elegance that stays in style despite changing trends.

Shutters on windows and doors are synonymous with the Hamptons look and whilst a space can be minimalist to some degree, colours and texture from throw rugs, cushions, floor rugs and artwork are incorporated to ensure a sense of coziness is not lost!

Hamptons style works well with open plan living spaces cleverly divided into ‘rooms’ by furniture placement. High ceilings and large windows mean light filled rooms that seamlessly flow from inside to out embrace the beachside lifestyle.

Classic styled furniture such as generous sofas covered in neutral toned fabrics are a must as are lamps with shell detail or simple neutral coloured shades. Shell pendant lights are pretty easy to find these days and can make a statement!

Cane furniture – rattan or wicker can be incorporated to give the style an earthy, grounded feel. To add a touch of glamour, add a chandelier or a little bit of glitz with a mirror or two.

Sealing Green Square

The Sydney Brick Paving Company has been busy sealing the paved footpaths of Green Square Town Centre with STONETECH® Heavy Duty Exterior Sealer.  It is a massive area that will see lots of foot traffic in the years to come. Stages 1 and 2 of the installation are now complete.

The Industrial Look is no longer limited to lofts and refurbished warehouse apartments. Its popularity now spans not only residential design but also commercial and retail spaces. When it comes to industrial style, simplicity and functionality are the order of the day.

Think exposed beams, pipework and masonry; the combination of raw timber, stone and metal and high ceilings with large windows where natural light beams through to breathe warmth into those hard surfaces.

Typically, an industrial look is created with accents of darker neutral tones, from mid grey to charcoal to black. Open shelving, tracked lighting or bare globe pendants, large open plan spaces and vintage furniture all add to the appeal of this design.
