A Studio for Specification

Sareen Stone’s Artarmon space was conceived as a working studio — a place where design professionals, clients and project teams can engage with materials in a meaningful and practical way.

Designed to support the process of selection and specification, the studio allows project teams to work through materials in context, under natural light, and at the pace of the project itself.

Designed Around the Way Design Professionals Work

Located on Herbert Street in Artarmon, the studio was designed as an extension of the design professional’s own workspace.

Architects, designers, landscape professionals and builders regularly bring clients into the space to review materials, spread out plans and move through selections in a considered, collaborative environment — surrounded by the stone being specified.

Three dedicated studio workspaces positioned throughout the studio provide room to meet, compare samples and work through project details in a calm, material-led setting.

Natural stone is experienced not only as individual samples, but as part of the built environment itself — underfoot, across surfaces, and in varying formats — allowing materials to be understood in terms of scale, texture and finish within a real setting.

From Raw Shell to Finished Studio

In early 2025, Sareen Stone moved into a raw concrete shell on Herbert Street. Within four weeks, the space was transformed into the material-led studio it is today.

The interior design, led by Sidgreaves and Co, was approached with restraint — allowing the materials to remain the focus. Construction was carried out by Hyland Building, with stone installation completed by Long Reef Bathrooms and Green Coast Landscapes.  Signage throughout the studio was completed by Carmel’s Creative Signs, contributing to the clean and understated identity of the space.

Lighting by LPA Lighting plays an important role throughout the space, with natural light shifting across surfaces during the day to reveal tonal variation, texture and finish.

The result is a studio where refined stone materiality sits alongside the rawness of the exposed industrial shell — an environment designed to support clarity in decision-making.

A Studio Designed for Collaboration

Since opening, the studio has become a regular working environment for architects, interior designers, landscape professionals, builders and pool builders — many of whom use the space to meet with clients and move projects forward.

The studio is designed to support different ways of working. Some professionals choose to host meetings within the space themselves, while others arrange independent visits for clients, with the Sareen Stone team available to guide selections on behalf of the project team where needed.

The space has also hosted industry and educational events, including an evening with the Landscape Design Institute focused on pool barrier updates, along with visits from Ryde TAFE Diploma of Landscape Design students exploring natural stone selection, finishes, formats and installation considerations.

Studio sessions can be arranged to suit project timelines and client availability.

More than a Showroom

Rather than a traditional display-led showroom, the Artarmon studio functions as a working resource for the design community — supporting the process of specification, collaboration and material decision-making.
