In a tranquil location south of Newcastle, the home sits beautifully in the bushland setting and takes in the breathtaking views of the surrounding lake. We used natural materials and plenty of texture to balance the large expanses of glass and hard surfaces making the house look warm and inviting.
The goal was to create a family home that embraces the surrounding remnant rainforest both internally and externally. TDDP’s studio is nestled within the garden, directly connecting to the landscape. Ground floor floats within the landscape and the sleeping level is in the treetops.
This first project revived an existing house to become a light-filled modern family home using a simple palette of natural materials that accentuate the grounded nature of the building.
