The striking mid-century inspired home features a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, with the limestone extending from pool surrounds through alfresco entertaining areas. This thoughtful material selection creates a natural progression from the off-white microcement internal flooring, visually expanding the space while maintaining practical functionality.
“I love the light colour, it is cool underfoot and has enough texture to make it practical,” explains Dana. Perfect for Canberra’s varied climate, the stone remains cool during hot summers while its natural texture provides essential slip resistance around the pool.
The neutral palette established by the limestone creates a sophisticated canvas for the home’s vibrant elements, including the terracotta BBQ wall, colorful furnishings, and decorative Jatana tiles. This design approach aligns with Dana’s philosophy that “being surrounded by beauty is good for the soul.”
Despite construction challenges in the post-COVID period, Dana successfully managed the build from excavation to completion. The result is a space that balances professional aspirations with family comfort, creating an environment where Dana feels “eternally on holiday.”
